Kiko | Moon Dust Face Powder - Cosmic Starlets

I think that this is one of the most beautiful face powders I have ever seen. Kiko recently opened in my home town (!!) and when I first saw this I instantly fell in love with it.
It is one of Kiko's Illuminating face powders from their Cosmis Starlet range. The packaging of all of these products is also gorgeous; even the boxes feel lovely! The powder is set in a gorgeous octagonal red box and has a decent sized mirror inside. The powder is then surrounded by silver which just offsets the powder itself beautifully.
And then the feel of it. Oh my. It is so smooth and soft; it just glides onto the skin and sits perfectly. It feels so lovely just to touch, let alone wear! It then has a beautiful colour; this is in Mysterious Pink. It is kind of like part Nars Orgasm and and peach and MAc Vanilla Pigment but just looks beautiful on the skin. It's a baked powder so has that extremely soft and pigmented touch, so a little goes a long way! It's available in two shades, but this one is definitely my favourite.
Even better, it's currently 30% off so is under £10! The whole collection is also limited so grab it whilst you can! You can get it here
All of this range looks beautiful, but I definitly think that this is a must have from the collection; if only just to look at!

What are your thoughts?

How to Feel Better When You Feel S#!&

Photo credit to the boyf - doesn't St.Pauls look so pretty? Another way to lighten everyone's mood!

I think I have had one of the worst immune systems ever this term; I have been ill for probably about 85% of the time since late September. As we speak I am recovering from what we assume was the flu.
Today was the first day in a while that I actually went outside and saw the sun and felt fresh air. It was very refreshing! However it is that time of the year where we can all feel a little run down, so here are a few of the things that can definitely make you feel better!

- In the words of Chanel, 'If you're sad, add more lipstick.' I recently bought Revlon's Cherry Blossom and trialled it on Monday. Definitely made me look better even if I didn't feel it!

- Indulge in some of your favs - i.e. Pepsi Max Cherry, Mince Pies and HIMYM. Need I say more?

- Ring the fam. I rang Mother to just have a little whine about how I'm ill again, and to hear her respond with 'I can't believe you're ill. AGAIN'.

- Get cosy. Put on those big jumpers and sweatpants you never wear anywhere else other than in bed. Cosy socks also, obvs! Or if possible, a onesie. I am currently chilling in my Moomin onesie; comfort and style right there.

- Nails. Doesn't painting your nails just always make you feel like you're nailing life?? I'm currently rocking Revlon Emerald City (velvet matte, just sayin'), as it's my Christmas tree nail varnish. Looks exactly like christmas trees, which does sound weird, but it's festive!
(And no I am not sponsored by Revlon here aha!)

- Watch a great loved, or new film. I watched What If last night when I was feeling particularly sorry for myself and lonely. And I loved it! It was so good; I definitely recommend.

Hopefully these help you to feel better if you're feeling down or ill!
What do you do to make yourself feel better?

Easy Like Sunday Blogging | Some Happy Thoughts

Easy Like Sunday Blogging - Hapz

Easy Like Sunday Blogging - Hapz by superkarina5

As per, I am apologising for not having posted for a while! Back at university (as a fourth year, so old), has been very hectic! I have also been ill for all of term so far (can anybody say laryngitis and post-nasal drip without it sounding grim?) and so have been struggling to do anything other than whine about feeling horrendous. Winning!

Yet over the past few days it seems like a lot of faith in humanity has been lost, and everyone is trying to bring a little bit of happiness into everyone's lives!
So that's my aim here!

For all beauty lovers out there you may already know this exciting news but... NYX has launched in Boots in the UK! Hooorayy!
Everything looks beautiful. Check it all out here.

This video of Ryan Reynolds trying to build a crib from Ikea. If you haven't already seen it, watch it NOW. Your life will be made.

There have actually been some really great posts going around about being positive lately. Here are some of my favourites:

HelloOctober

KateLaVie

ManRepeller

Hopefully this has made things seems a little better, and reminds us that there are still great and happy things going on in the world, even amonst so much sadness.

Autumnal

I love Autumn. It is definitely my favourite season (remember when I was living in Madison and nobody knew Autumnal was a word?) I love the fashion, the cosy nights in, trees changing colours. If If I was still in America - Thanksgiving!
So here is a little peak at some of my current favourite picks for Autumn!
I have also been cheekily lightening my hair; so yes it does look a bit ginger here!

What are your favourite picks for Autumn?

While I've Been Away...

Don't worry everyone... I have not gotten a life. There are a few reasons as to why I have been absent from The Kazlight Anthem; most of them not through choice.
So after having lived a long life (about five years), and suffering and surviving two complete deaths, my beloved laptop finally died. All I'm going to say is that some dodgy downloading on my part is what finally killed it, thus for a good few weeks I had no laptop. However I do have a brand new beautiful one! It's still a trusty ol' HP, but this time it's purple, fast, the battery actually works and it doesn't struggle to do ANYTHING. It is glorious. I'd forgotten what it was like to turn your laptop on and not have to wait twenty minutes whilst it restarted itself and finally got going.

Secondly I have also been working pretty much full time. (B&M if anyone was wondering; more on that to come!) So I have barely even been at home to get any blog posts done. However working means money and money means shopping which means... haul posts? New make up posts? Yes, yes, yes.

But just to catch you all up on the important things:
I may be back from Madison, but I am missing is tremendously. My life is just not quite the same without my table at Memorial Union or without seeing Bucky everywhere.
I go back to Warwick at the end of September for my fourth (and final!) year.
But for now the summer of work continues!

Watch this space for some actual blog posts!

Too Many Lip Products in One Bag

I know that we are all guilty of this. Keeping a ridiculous amount of lip products in the bag that we are currently using. Let's face it, most of us probably have at least three lip balms on the go at once. But we are women. We like options. What if we don't fancy a red lip? Or sometimes we need to change the look from day to night. Or sometimes it's too windy for the lipgloss and a switch to lipstick is needed.
When I tipped my bag out, these were the lip products that I found...

Everyone needs a good lipbalm. The one that I am currently carting around (I say this as I have three next to my bedside table and at least another few on my desk) is the Blue Maybelline Baby Lips. This is just a great standard lip balm; it's clear and with SPF20.
Yes I am carrying around two of the Revlon ColorStay Moisture Stains. But these are jsut incredible! I have Stockholm Chic,  which is a great deep orange with just a slight bit of shimmer and New York Scene, a classic blue based red. You glide these on in the morning and they're there all day! Having now been to both of these places as well, I can truly appreciate them!
The Topshop Sheer Lips in Play With Fire, was a great sale find. I picked this up and a few others (see here) for only £3. It's a great medium coverage in a pastel like orange. It seems that you can no longer get this particular colour, but there are still some available on sale.
Who doesn't have a Rimmel Lasting Finish Kate Moss Lipstick? I have colour 110 and it's a great reddy-orange; perfect for those days when you don't quite want a red lip but you still want something bold. (Yes there is a pattern emerging here with the oranges...)
The Stila Lip Glaze in Kaleidoscope was really in there for a weekend of family gatherings and has just remained in there. However it's comforting to have a nude with a bit of sparkly is never far away.
I think that Tanya Burr's Lipgloss in Chic is one of my all time favourites. I don't need to rave about these as everyone already knows how good they are, but this is basically the perfect nude. And just so wearable!

All in all, I think I have justified the need for all of these products, as I'm sure everyone else would with theirs!

How many lip products do you currently have in your bag?

Current Obsession: Using Things Up

(Can you believe there is a Czech film called Empties?! This was the first thing that came up when I was perusing potential images for the top of this post; I couldn't not use it.)

Does anyone else sometimes go through this phase? Where you suddenly seem to an have an overwhelming need to try and use up every single product that you have open? Is it normal?
I think for me it began when I was roaming the States before I left. I was extremely concerned about the weight of my lugagge. When I moved out there I only had my hand lugagge and one big case; I left with an overflowing large case and a giant holdall that I had had to buy for the rest of my stuff. (I had a grand total of nearly 60kg; I had nightmares and constant anxiety about carting all of this stuff around).
Thus in attempt to lighten 'my load', I frantically tried to use up everything that I possibly could. Face wash, shower gel, shampoo, nail varnish base coats (Sorry No7, but you had gone gloopy), travel size body lotions (Thanks Ben for inevitably then squeezing out way more than I thought possible from that tube), etcetc. Although this probably all made minimal, if any difference at all, it made me feel a tiny bit more at ease.
And so since coming home it seems as if I have subconciously become obsessed with using up everything that I possibly can. I know we all find it pretty satisfying when we do in fact use up an entire concealer or finally let go of a mascara that we really should have stopped using a long time ago. But I am taking this to a whole new level, and using waaaay more of something than I need to in order to finish it quicker.

Here are then are the products that I have now used up or am in the process of!

Aromatherapy Associates - Rose Collection, Moisturiser, Cleanser, Face Mask
When trying to organise my ridiculous amount of stuff (still a work in progress), I discovered a sample size set of these. I do believe they came free from a magazine. I have since then encorporated the Renewing Rose Cleanser into my evening routine and the Triple Rose Renewing Moisturiser. Am yet to try the Rose Face Mask, but so far the other products aren't too shabby. Only problem for me is that I am not fan of the rose scent.

Micellar Cleansing Waters
Remeber when these suddenly emerged onto the scene and everyone instantly fell in love with them? Well I am still pretty much on that bandwagon. I took the Garnier one with me...and then brought the rest of it back. Only to then remember that I still have my original L'Oreal Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution. Awks.

Soap&Glory Heel Genius Amazing Foot Cream Marvel
The smell of this always reminds me of first year; it was an integral part of my evening routine. Then that particular Heel Genius went a bit odd and only gave out greenish water... But this always comes in the giant Soap&Glory Christmas boxes and so I always have one lurking. This summer I am really trying to use it every night and actually put it to good use. Definitely seems to be keeping my feet looking fairly decent!

Mascaras
Why is it we always end up with way more mascaras than we are ever going to use? I finally let my Maybelline The Falsies go. Definitely a repurchase needed (when I've used all the others up!) Currently trying to force myself into using the Physicians Formula Organic Wear mascara; you know the one that comes in that green leaf packaging. It's just really, meh. The brush is tiny and the mascara itself just doesn't really do anything. The love, sorry mascara, of my life, my trusty Lancome Hypnose is however on it's last legs. Not to mention Soap&Glory Thick and Fast; one of those is always lurking (see above for why).

Moisturisers
Preface: I have enough mositurisers to last a bloody lifetime. Currently working through Hollister Crescent Bay (which is in very different packaging to the current one, but the product itself seems to improve with age), Garnier Summer body; I have both light and deep. Deep?! What was I thinking?! And a Boots Natural Collection Vanilla Body Lotion which you can no longer even still get. Don't worry though, other than the really nice smell you're not missing much with that one.

Believe me, I could carry on here. But I will let you some time to consider the products that you're trying to use up subconsciously!

Current Music Wishlist

Another scenic Swedish shot right there, but I thought I would share this with you as this is the kind of face I feel I pull whenever I think about all the current amazing music that is going on right now!
Seriously guys, there are so many albums that I need it is unreal; I don't remember the last time that there was so much great music available to us all at one time. We're being spoilt really.

So here is my list of music albums that I am currently lusting after.

Florence and the Machine - How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful

Alright this was a cheeky one as this was one of the first things I bought when I was back in the UK. This album is sososo good. I am loving Various Storms & Saints and Third Eye. The album artwork as well is stunning. My sister commented that she thought the cover was pretty dull, but then the booklet that comes with the Deluxe version, oh my.

Muse - Drones

Not only did this album reach No.1 in the UK but this is the band's first US No.1 album! Not to mention if Dead Inside (the bridge, oooh the bridge) and  Mercy weren't enough to draw you in I'm not really sure what else would.

Brandon Flowers - The Desired Effect

Again I have cheekily listened to all of this album and it is just a work of art. Can't Deny My Love was the first song I heard months ago now and I had it on repeat for days. The rest of the album does not disappoint; not to mention that Flowers is looking pretty damn fine!

Saint Raymon - Young Blood

So much talent for such a young guy!  He is only 19. And his voice and songs are all incredible.

Walk The Moon - Talking is Hard

I ended up listening to this entire album on Spotify completely by accident one night, and this album has sooo much more to give than just Shut Up and Dance. Don't get me wrong, I love that song when it comes on when I'm a few drinks in. But the rest of this album is sooo much better; I'm really hoping this band doesn't remain as one of those that is just known for that one song.

Wolf Alice - My Love is Cool

Have you heard Bros yet!? Omg it's amazing. Another great song with a great bridge. (In case you hadn't guessed, a bridge is my favourite part of a song; if it has a great bridge, I'm hooked). So Wolf Alice are currently a little peeved with Florence as she took the No.1 album spot when this album was set to... which just shows that it should be a great album!

Let me know your thoughts on your current music wishlist!

Top Ten Strangest Things About Moving Home

So just over two weeks ago I returned to England, for the first time in six months and this time I would not be returning to Madison, WI. The above picture is from my mini-trip to Sweden before coming home to meet up with some of my wonderful uni friends; it was a great transition before coming home so seemed apt for this transitional post!

1. The Fam. You are actually in the same living quarters as your family again. Of course this isn't a bad thing but you were used to not being there and they were used to you not being there. It all requires just a little adjusting.

2. The Time Difference. This of course is not applicable to everyone but I am now six hours ahead of all my friends back in Madison and it is killing me; I haven't put my laptop back on UK time because it just makes me sad.

3. The Routine. Is it just me or does anyone else have a completely different routine when they're at homehome? I become a full on middle aged woman who (enjoys!) spending her evenings with the likes of Phil Spencer and Kirstie Alsop.

4. The Routine Cont. It just doesn't seem legit to stay up until four in the morning making french toast sticks and doing shots of chocolate covered pretzel flavoured vodka and not getting up until gone twelve the next day when your Mother then asks you what you did that day.

5. The Food. You kind of forget what it was like to have food around all the time. And cooking for more than just yourself. And having to tell someone whether or not you want dinner.

6. The People. I am currently in a very strange time in my life wherein most of my friends have graduated and have some semblance of a life plan; technically that is where I should be but I'm not leaving me to be very much aware that I am in a different scheme of life to most people around me.

7. The Place. One Bill Bryson said that you can never go back home. And it's true, it really is. Romford is so small and the people are so, Romford. It's almost as if I've grown out of it, like a Tamagotchi.

8. The Money. My thoughts of money when I'm at home revolve far more around saving it up for a new laptop, or the latest make up launch. Whereas these thoughts are only ever so slightly overshadowed by thoughts of needing money to eat and you know, live on when I'm not at home.

9. The Stuff. When you are away from your homehome for a year you forget just how much and what stuff you have. You accumulate things; it's a natural process. My room currently resembles something off of a day-time tv self-help programme where you wonder how on earth these people ever got into those states in the first place.

10. Yourself. Returning homehome is not something done by the same person that left. You return a different person. You're older, you're more grown up, you know yourself better. You changed, and not just because you're now tanned and have probable permanent throat damage.

Have you ever moved back homehome? What did you find most strange?

Easy Like Sunday Blogging - Election 2015

It is 2010. The election is in full swing. For weeks the rise of the Lib Dems led by Nick Clegg has been all over TV screens. David Cameron for Conservatives and Gordon Brown for Labour barely get any coverage; it is all about the 'new boy' and the 'liberal way'.
It seems like maybe voting for Lib Dem could be a good way to make some changes in the UK, maybe they will be the new light that the country needs. Maybe they will be the ones to make everyone happy and provide everyone with what they want.
At the time I was 16. I was in year 11, going into year 12. University was my main aim at that point, as it was for many other people of my age and younger.
Nick Clegg promised that he would not touch anything to do with universities; he would not touch tuition fees. He promised that.
For the hard-core stubborn Tories and Labour supporters, the new wave of Lib Dem supporters seemed crazy and uninformed. How could a party suddenly sweep the nation like this? It was exciting. Everything had the potential to change.

I watched the results come in during one of my last Citizenship (yes Citizenship) classes. That was all we did for the entire morning. We watched as no majority was gained and a hung parliament was announced. A coalition would ensue between Conservatives and Liberal Democrats.
It seemed like there might be something good happening in the UK.

The first policy that the Lib Dems passed was to triple university fees. This may not seem like a major thing to many people, but it was the fact that so many people had believed in someone who said one thing, and then completely backed out on that.
A lot of people were devastaed; people of my generation felt betrayed and singled out. Riots broke out. Students protested. It was a difficult time to be a student.
This was also not helped by the fact that the year the fees would rise would be my year; the year that had been just too young to vote at the time. Yet many people who could vote believed that Lib Dems were the right choice for young people, and that they had their interests at heart. It was a horrendous let down.

Fast forward five years to the 2015 election. Everyone of my generation is still bitter and hurt by the decisions made by the Lib Dems; something which has then funnelled through many other areas of society. The amount of people that could then vote in this election included three years of people harmed by the decisions relating to universities which Lib Dem made.
It was obvious that they were not going to get back any power.
Yet Tories had allowed them to make some of the decisions; they were after all the ones who had the majority of the power. David Cameron had been the Prime Minister, and Nick Clegg only the Deputy. Yet they had only helped Lib Dems and the only changes which occurred were for the worse. And what of Labour? The biggest news story regarding them was the power battle between the Miliband brothers over who should be the leader; it doesn't inspire too much confidence when a party is unsure over who should lead it.

But this election saw somewhat of a rise in the underdog. UKIP, Green, SNP, Plaid Cymru, they all began to have a louder voice and stood for much more than they had previously. It wasn't a surprise that SNP tried to take some limelight; after the referendum for whether or not Scotland should leave the UK came and passed by without change, Scotland realised that they could actually be noticed.
Nigel Farage also gained a large following; It was almost as if the Scottish referendum made many people question the legitimacy of everything about the UK, and began to think that maybe we should become our own little nation.
And as for Green, it started to seem as if anyone could have a shot at a coalition, and maybe it could be Green.

This was the most unpredicatable election for decades. Nobody knew what the outcome would be. Nobody could predict it. But worst of all? Nobody predicited a majority.
It was near 90% certain that there would not be a majority. The exit polls were released. The Tories were just short of a majority. Labour had fallen. Lib Dem had plummeted. Yet it stll seemed uncertain of what would actually be the outcome.

I watched the results for 12 straight hours. Even after I was no longer at my laptop, I checked my phone every five minutes for updates. Up until when I went to bed at about four in the morning, the results looked exactly like the exit polls. There was not going to be a majority.

I woke up a few hours laters, and everything had changed. Conservatives had rocketed into a majority. Ed Miliband has resigned. Nick Clegg had resigned. Nigel Farage had resigned. Green gained over a million votes but only retained their single seat. SNP had taken nearly every single seat form Labour in Scotland.
Change had happened. But it was not the change anyone had expected.

It has taken me over two weeks to really digest this information and to really consider how I feel about it and what it means for the country that in less than a month I will return to.
I think that it is safe to say that I am still in shock about the outcome, and that feeling will probably forever remain with me, such as the feeling of disappointment at the hands of the Lib Dems in 2010.
But it has happened. And we must all accept it for what it is. Maybe it is not the best outcome, but it sure isn't the worst either.

But I end this with a quote taken from Twitter during the Leader debates: 'Trust in democracy is a precious thing. Once stolen, it cannot just be given back.'
This is something which we should all keep in mind, as go into a Conservative government for the next five years.

Easy Like Sunday Blogging

So this week has been an unusual one, it's been a long three days at least! Above is a photo of me staniding in the Badlands in South Dakota, making of course, the Wisconsin 'W'; Badger Pride!
I have had a lot of times this week that have really boosted my self esteem, which is something taht I was definitely in need of. Everyone needs a little boost every now and then!
Aside from that, everything else is all a bit of a mess in my life, which I will use the perfect Lorelei Gilmore picture to represent:

Just to elaborate a little there... I no longer have a functioning phone which also means I have no clock or alarm. My bag broke this week. And one of my shoes is also breaking.
And is it just me or is everyone just a little bit on the verge of a bit of a breakdown at the moment? I am drowning under all of the things which I have to do and which I am just avoiding doing.
But, I have cut out sugar and my gym game is going strong, so if I have a meltdown, at least I will be looking good doing it!

But it is Sunday which just means...tomorrow is not only a new day, but also a new week, so here's to it being just a little better than the last!

How are you all feeling for the new week?

Easy Like Sunday Blogging - Spring Break Edition!

The week before last was Spring Break for us Badgers and one my flatmates and I roadtripped around! I have now been to a total of 13 states; only hoping to extend that even more! If you follow me on instagram or twitter then you may have already seen some of my adventures!
We went through Minnesota, to South Dakota and saw Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse and the Badlands, went down through Wyoming (never again) to Colorado and stayed in Denver for a few days. We climbed around the Flatirons. Then went throuugh Nebraska and Iowa and spent Easter in Naperville, Illinois and then Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
I saw so much! So here are just some great photos from that week!

What did you do for Spring Break?
